For the thing you keep putting off, commit to two minutes. Open the file, write the first line, put on the shoes.

Putting things off is mostly about mood, not laziness. The task feels bad, so you avoid the feeling. Once you've started, the feeling usually shrinks, because the imagined version was worse than the real one.

Two minutes is small enough to start without a fight, and starting is the part that fails. Common advice, little direct research. Costs nothing. Evidence: worth trying
